John Zechner, chairman, J. Zechner Associates Stock Picks

John Zechner, chairman, J. Zechner Associates U.S. Large Caps

PFIZER (NYSE:PFE): pipeline hurt a little by competition..valuation has been cheapest in twenty years..

BIOVAIL (NYSE:BVF): I don't think it's a sell..we're close to putting it back on..almost all negative risks out there are built into stock..Wellbutrin genericized..Tramadol..generating lots of cash..you know what are the issues..need to do an acquisition, fill up pipeline little more..worst case scenario in earnings about $1.20..selling only about 12-13X that..ostenibly a growth stock..maybe still a little negative news left

MERCK (NYSE:MRK): I like the sector..names incredibly punished in past couple of years, still looks cheap..stock has been recovering nicely..wouldn't be first pick in the group..like Genentech (NYSE:DNA), J&J (NYSE:JNJ), Pfizer..will move with the group except further negative Vioxx rulings..more headline risk than typical fundamentals..these big pharma stocks in US so out of favor..

GE (NYSE:GE): almost proxy to the economy, will go up exactly with the index..earnings growth will be center of the line..capital pieces, infrastructure..almost like a microcosm for the rest of the economoy..safe, nothing better than overall market
